Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 9, 2026
1. Overview
ScreenScout is built with privacy as a core principle. Your screenshots and their contents never leave your device.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
ScreenScout does not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your screenshots or images
- OCR text extracted from your screenshots
- Search queries
- File names or file paths
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Personal information or identifiers
3. On-Device Processing
All OCR processing is performed locally on your Mac using Apple's native Vision framework. The search index is stored locally on your device. No image data or extracted text is ever sent to any server.
4. Network Requests
ScreenScout may make limited network requests for the following purposes only:
- License validation: When activating a Pro license, the App communicates with Lemon Squeezy's API to verify your license key. Only the license key is transmitted — no screenshot data, OCR text, or personal files are included.
5. Third-Party Services
The only third-party service ScreenScout interacts with is Lemon Squeezy, our payment and licensing provider. Their handling of payment information is governed by Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy.
6. Local Storage
ScreenScout stores the following data locally on your device:
- A SQLite database containing extracted text and file references for your indexed screenshots
- Application preferences and settings
- Your license key (if purchased)
This data is stored in your application support directory and is not accessible to other applications in the standard macOS sandbox.
7. Data Deletion
You can delete all ScreenScout data at any time by removing the App and its associated data from your Mac. Uninstalling the App removes all local databases and settings.
8. Children's Privacy
ScreenScout is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
